Beach Cricket – Take the Game to the Sand!

Heading to the beach? Don't forget the cricket gear!

Beach cricket is a great way to enjoy a game with family and friends while making the most of a sunny day. You don't need much equipment to get started, and a simple bat and ball can provide hours of entertainment.

A lightweight plastic cricket bat paired with a soft cricket ball or tennis ball is a popular choice for casual beach cricket. They're great options for relaxed games where everyone can have a turn at batting and bowling.

Whether you're playing at the beach, camping, on holidays or enjoying a weekend away, beach cricket is all about having fun and getting everyone involved.

Best Cricket Equipment for Backyard Cricket

Choosing the right backyard cricket equipment doesn't need to be complicated. The best setup will depend on who's playing, where you're playing and how competitive your game is!

Here's a quick guide to some of the most popular backyard cricket equipment.

Plastic Cricket Bats

Plastic cricket bats are a fantastic option for backyard cricket, particularly for younger players and casual games. They're lightweight, easy to handle and available in different sizes to suit children of various ages.

They're also a great choice for beach cricket, family games and introducing kids to the basics of batting.

Soft Cricket Balls & Tennis Balls

The right ball can make all the difference to a backyard cricket game. Soft cricket balls, rubber balls and tennis balls are popular choices for casual cricket, particularly when playing with younger children.

They provide a more relaxed alternative to traditional leather cricket balls and are ideal for many backyard and recreational games.

There are plenty of different options available, including soft cricket balls, seamed tennis balls, swing balls and specialist skill balls.

Cricket Stumps & Wickets

No backyard cricket game is complete without something to aim at!

Plastic cricket stumps and wickets make a great addition to any backyard cricket setup. Whether you prefer a traditional set of stumps, a target stump or a portable set for taking on holidays, they're an easy way to get your game organised.

Complete Backyard Cricket Sets

Want to get everything in one go? A complete plastic cricket set is a great option for families and young cricket fans.

These sets bring together essential equipment to get a game started, making them ideal birthday presents, Christmas gifts and holiday purchases.

They're particularly handy for families who want to keep a cricket set ready for spontaneous games whenever the opportunity arises.

Backyard Cricket for Kids – Getting the Next Generation Playing

Backyard cricket is often where a love of the game begins.

For many young players, their first experience of cricket isn't at a club or organised training session. It's having a hit in the backyard with Mum and Dad, playing with brothers and sisters or joining in with friends during the school holidays.

Lightweight plastic cricket bats, soft cricket balls and junior cricket sets are great ways to introduce children to the game. They allow kids to practise their batting, bowling and catching while enjoying themselves along the way.

It's also a fantastic way to encourage children to spend more time outdoors, develop hand-eye coordination and enjoy some friendly competition.

And remember, backyard cricket has its own rules! Whether it's one hand, one bounce, over the fence is six and out, or the famous car-in-the-way rule, half the fun is making up the rules as you go.

Make Backyard Cricket Even More Fun!

Why stick to the traditional game when you can add a few extras?

From colourful cricket balls and skill games to glow-in-the-dark cricket gear, there are plenty of ways to make backyard cricket even more exciting.

Try a few different games, set up a bowling challenge or organise a family competition. You could even keep the cricket going into the evening with glow-in-the-dark cricket accessories.

Whether it's a quick game before dinner or an afternoon-long family competition, a little imagination can turn a simple game of backyard cricket into a great day out.
